Accident Reconstruction Network > News >May 2008 Accident Reconstruction News Article Ski-Doo Snowmobiles Recalled BRP U.S. Inc. is recalling about 400 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles. Under extreme cold and dry weather conditions, an explosion could occur because of sparking in the fuel tank when it is partially filled with gasoline at a low vapor pressure and the engine is left idling. This could cause serious injuries or death. The firm has received four reports of explosions, one involving burns to legs, fingers and face. This recall involves Ski-Doo® model names listed below. Model names are located on the side panel.
The units were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2004 through March 2007 for between $9,000 and $10,000. They were made in Finland. Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent a direct notice from BRP.
